Bonus - Sedition is the Word of the Month

So, domestic terrorists staged a violent coup to overthrow the US government this week. We decided that we would go ahead and release the episode that we had originally scheduled for this week but we could not do so without mention of the horror of this week. Since we didn't want to saddle that episode online forever with this news, we recorded a minimally edited (Becky can't not edit some) reaction to the situation. Next week we will have a full episode discussing the coup attempt and its connection to Charlottesville.

131 - Baywatch Passes the Bechdel Test

Welcome to the second episode in the Twisterds Movie Club. This week we watch and discuss the 2017 classic comedy, Baywatch. Big thanks to Amanda and Christopher for recommending this based on the idea it is a mindless comedy that, also, passes the Bechdel test. What is the Bechdel test, you ask? In short, it is when two named female characters have an interchange that is about something unrelated to men. Kudos, Baywatch.

Put on your red swim suit and water shoes, strap on a floatation device and dive in with us as we wade into the surf with Mitch, Stephanie, CJ, Summer, Matt, and Ronnie.

If you have ideas for future movie or book discussions let us know!

Minisode: Some Books to Help You Be Less Fucking Racist

We, Nicole and Becky unequivocally affirm that BLACK LIVES MATTER.

In this minsode, we recommend some of the books that we have read or are reading to educate ourselves about systemic racism and what it means for us to have white privilege. If you are BIPOC, please do not feel compelled to listen to this episode; you already live this every moment of your life.

119 - Jesus Never Promised To Be Our Frontal Lobe with Christian Janeway Part 2

Becky and Nicole are joined this week by Christian Janeway to discuss ADHD, its symptoms, and its connection to Evangelicalism. She teaches us about symptoms of ADHD that may be perceived as basic a-hole behavior out of context, how to recognize those symptoms, and maybe how to empathize a bit more.

We had such a great conversation with the Captain that this episode has been divided into 2 parts. This is the second part; if you haven't listened to the first part, go back and listen to it because it has important context for this part.

Find Christian Janeway @XianJaneway on Twitter

Becky's fangirling this week is Jelle's Marble Run, check them out on youtube.

119 - Jesus Never Promised To Be Our Frontal Lobe with Christian Janeway Part 1

Becky and Nicole are joined this week by Christian Janeway to discuss ADHD, its symptoms, and its connection to Evangelicalism. She teaches us about symptoms of ADHD that may be perceived as basic a-hole behavior out of context, how to recognize those symptoms, and maybe how to empathize a bit more.

Becky and Nicole had such a great conversation with the Captain that this episode has been divided into 2 parts. The second part discussing the connection to Evangelicalism will be available later this week! Stay tuned, there is great information and conversation coming your way.

Becky's fangirling this week is Jelle's Marble Run, check them out on youtube.

Becky and Nicole are joined this week by a panel of mental health professionals: Dawn, Erin, Tres, and Tony. They discuss trauma, healing, survival, and why you don't have to bake all the bread. The Twisted Sisterds do want to give a trigger warning this week as we do discuss in depth some mental health issues including anxiety, depression, and abuse as they pertain to the current social climate.

If you or someone you know is struggling, we encourage you to reach out. Here are a few resources compiled by our guests this week. This list is general and definitely not exhaustive, but hopefully you will find it helpful.
